Once again, I've managed to totally neglect this area. Wow, it's almost been a year since I've last written anything in here. So what to talk about? Someone recently posted on a messageboard the question of "Have you accomplished everything you've set out to do as a DJ" and it got me thinking to my own answer. My immediate response would be yes and no. There are several things I've accomplished that I set out to do. I've spun at Buzz one of the area's most popular and largest events. Buzz is one of the names synonymous with EDM on the East Coast. I've spun alongside many talented area DJs as well as at the same events with some great headliners such as DJ Icey, Evol Intent, Keith MacKenzie, Faust & Shortee, Reid Speed, and more. I was given the chance to return to Atlanta and DJ for the friends who I got into the "scene" with. I have two radio shows on award winning breakbeat radio stations. So on and so forth. There are still some events I would like to play soon and am constantly working towards meeting those goals. So in that aspect, no I haven't achieved everything quite yet. I also have some ways to go with my production work, but got a recent surprise in that area. I entered a remix contest for Botchit & Scarper's new label Contraband. I never heard anything further so figured nothing came of it. About a month too late, I discovered that my remix had made the Final Five. A good sign that I am making progress in that field. So overall, I am very satisfied with what I've accomplished but also very hungry to do so much more. The moment you become completely satisfied is the moment you lose your passion for what you do. I'm looking forward to knocking off some more goals in the forthcoming year.

I must apologize for my total slackness in this area. For some reason, I always forget to update this section. Been a long while since my last entry, but not a whole lot has gone on that has been noteworthy, until now. Recently, I was asked if I wanted a show on BreaksFM, which is an award winning Breakbeat internet radio station. I, of course, jumped at the chance as I've been looking to perhaps do a radio show to have the oppurtunity to spin more regularly as well as being able to reach a worldwide audience. I expect many great things to come out of this. One, I am looking forward to tagging with some of the best breaks DJ in the area. I've always enjoyed tagging with other DJs and also, this gives the world a chance to hear the talent that is located here. Two, perhaps some more oppurtunities will arise from this experience and help me move forward in my DJing career. Three, it makes me spin more. Honestly, I had gotten to the point where I hardly ever spin anymore unless its practicing before a gig to knock the rust off or while making a new mix. This gives me a chance to touch the decks more and also play some records that I either haven't played in a while or that much at all. I'm really excited about this project and look forward to a successful run on BreaksFM.com

Been a while since my last blog, but haven't had anything really on my mind to speak about until my experience at Solidarity II in Atlanta over the Cinco De Mayo weekend. When I first heard about the event, I was very interested in participating no matter what. 7 promoters working together for a common good was a very intriguing prospect. There were openings for the open tables room and I was more than happy with that. But my friend who was one of the promoters (he works for Evolution) ended up setting me up as the headliner for one of the rooms. When I arrived at the venue several hours before the event, it was exciting to see everyone working together to pull off a massive event that included 6 areas of sound. All the petty BS was left behind to further the cause of charity. Even more so, an Atlanta watchdog group tried to have the venue shut down just days before the event (due to some flyers for another event going on at the same venue later on) and the promoters fought hard to convince a panel of board members to keep the liscence for the venue valid. So as my friend said, they really had to "fight for their right to party"... haha. But overall the night was a success. Thousands of dollars were raised to help children and abused animals. The vibe at the party was amazing and all of the DJs and acts were brilliant. I already expressed my interest in Solidarity III which will be held around May of next year. So big ups to all involved in helping the event give a little back to the community.

This past Friday Night, one of the longest running events in Virginia came to a close without much spectacle. Reverb, as it was called, was not only just an EDM event, but for a long time it was like a second home. When I moved back to Virginia after 8 years in Georgia, I didn't know a soul. Didn't have a single friend. The mass majority of my friends that I would meet in the next five years, I met at Reverb. Brought together by a love of dance music, the people I met there helped shape my life during my early-mid twenties. Some friends have since come and go, but all have left their impact. Not only that but Empyreal productions, the company that ran the event, have had more impact on my DJ career than any other entity. I used to hone my dj skills by playing the open tables at Reverb. Later on, Empyreal offered my my first residency at Reverb. So to the entire Empyreal crew, I give much deserved props and all my respect. It was a great five year run.

So it's another late night... I do most of my internet work around that time. I guess it comes from working on the internet all day during my job that I need a break from it for a few hours. Just updating the website with some new tasty tidbits including my radio show mix from WRIR from the end of last year, new event dates, etc. Got another WRIR radio show coming up this weekend. Can't wait. Its exciting to be a part of an actual radio program where anyone in the city of Richmond can tune in on their stereo and hear smashing beats. Also, working on some new tunes. Hopefully they'll be completed soon and clips will be available. Sometimes, its hard to juggle all of your interests/hobbies. Trying to find time to make music, create web content, write stories, DJ, read other's fantastic works, listen to other's great contributions to music can be well... trying. Haha. My little bit of humour for this bit. But seriously, just doing something creative is fun in and of itself. Creating something new where there was nothing before, be it words, notes, etc, is a wonderful feeling of accomplishment. Well, I'm off to work on some new projects and complete some old. Til next time.

Hello all. So it's late night and I'm putting the finishing touches on the new site design. I've never done an actual blog thing before, but I thought it'd be a nice touch to the new site. I'm a writer at heart and so this'll give me the oppurtunity to explore that aspect of my creative side a bit more. (I'm also a terrible typist, so I apologize for any typing or spelling errors in advance... especially this late at night). So technically, its February 1st already. How quick 1/12th of the year went by... I just felt like I was recovered from the whole "holidays" experience. Well I hope to have this site online sometime this week. So there may even be another blog entry before this actually goes live. Please check out the new site and enjoy. Also, give my new mix a listen, its something a little different but getting good reviews so far. Ezzzz all!
